No matter what you seek to do in life, there’s likely a path available to you to make it happen. Whether it’s completing a 5K or restoring a classic car, there’s a process that can help you get from here to there.

So, with summer upon us, what better time is there to lace up your shoes or begin disassembling the old car, in an effort to finally do what you’ve dreamed of doing?

As financial advisors, we’re in the planning business. Much of what we do is helping people identify where they are and where they want to go and then taking the necessary steps to live out the life you envision for yourself. It may seem like it’s all about the numbers, but much of the process we implement involves aligning head with heart with resources. It’s with this in mind that we’re using this edition of the Elevated Insider to try to inspire you to getting organized and focused.

One of the challenges of financial organization is the notion that financial matters are largely abstract, that is there are numbers on a page that represent financial assets. Meanwhile, much of our life is lived in the physical world, or among stuff. Seeing the connection between the abstract and the physical is where financial planning lives. Thus, we’re offering you guides in both worlds, yet they seem very similar and interconnected. Because they are.

We’d love to help you declutter, both your physical possessions, and your financial assets. Why? Getting organized has the power to help us to think more freely and clearly about other important matters. Again, completing a 5K or restoring a classic car require time, energy, and focus. We hope we can help you get excited about clearing the decks of your life in order to get to the more fun or pressing matters. This may require you to do some tidying up first.

As author Wendell Berry said, “Don't own so much clutter that you will be relieved to see your house catch fire.” I like to think that he’d add something to the effect of, “That clutter isn’t getting you in better shape and it isn’t helping you become more financially free.”

With another summer here, let’s enjoy the parties and cookouts, the sun and the warmth. But let’s also consider how a few key moves now could help get you organized and set up for long-term success. Future you will thank Summer 2023 you.
